Rare opportunity to discover the influential career of Jacques Brel

Redditch Editorial 9th Jun, 2017   0

FANS of David Bowie, Scott Walker and Rod McKuen are invited to find out more about a key influence behind their favourite artists – Jacques Brel.

Coming to Redditch next Saturday (June 17) Jacques Brel: A Life a Thousand Times is a seminal biopic of the great Belgian singer who dwelt fearlessly on love, death and desperate emotion in his work.

Re-worked and revamped, the musical by Simon Pennicot incorporates Brel’s world famous songs, sprinkled with true words on his loves, lyrics and life that inspired countless artists and dozens of cover versions.

The first of its kind to be approved, the show promises to leave its audience with renewed love for Belgium’s favourite son.

Born in 1929, Brel became the most successful songwriter of his generation, later influencing such artists as Rod McKuen, David Bowie and Scott Walker.

The show, starting at 7.45pm, includes both well-known Brel classics and hidden gems, all set in cabaret style within the intimate surroundings of The Room Upstairs.

Tickets cost £13 including booking fee and are available online at http://bit.ly/2rZvpcz
