Reach for the sky with Big Build event at Redditch's Forge Mill Museum

FORGE Mill’s summer of Lego ends this weekend with a whole host of activities including an outdoor theatre performance.

Saturday and Sunday September 1-2, visitors can enjoy a free Lego activity at their final Big Build event where participants can help make the largest Lego needle in the world – hopefully up to a record breaking 30ft!

On top of this, everyone knows St George has to do battle with the dragon, but what happens when the dragon simply won’t fight St George? Visitors to the museum can find out on Saturday and enjoy some fantastic outdoor theatre “The Reluctant Dragon” by Quantum Theatre. Gates open at 4.45pm for visitors to set up their picnics in a prime spot before the performance at 5.15pm. Please bring your own seats and blankets for the show.

Tickets for the outdoor theatre cost £4.50 for children and £9 for adults. The performance runs for an hour and a half and is suitable for families.

Competition entries for the summer Lego competition will also be on display on the Sunday between 1pm and 3pm.

Councillor Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers Leisure and Cultural Services, said: “Why not come for a great day out, enjoying the Big Build Lego activity in the daytime and staying on to see St George and his “Reluctant Dragon” in the early evening. It’s a fun day out for the whole family.”

Admission to the site and taking part in the Lego activity is free for the community as it has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

Usual museum building entry costs still apply and tickets for the outdoor theatre programme must be purchased in advance.

Please contact the museum on 01527 62509 to book tickets for the outdoor theatre or go to www.forgemill.org.uk for more information.
