VE Day brought the memories flooding back for Redditch resident Paul Wright – when he remembered that his dad Bernard had kept a souvenir copy of the Daily Express from May 8, 1945.
“Dad died 10 years ago but I always remembered that newspaper and so I dug around and found it – it’s so precious and I remember he always kept it in a safe place,” said Mr Wright.
Redditch Library was pleased with his find too and plan to display at a special VE and VJ Day exhibition and then store it for future generations in its archive.
