STAFF and students of St Benedict’s Sixth Form are celebrating a record year of results for their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma and BTEC students.
The Sixth Form in Alcester, which is in the top 10 IB state schools in the country, saw a record number of students taking the Diploma and a highest-ever 100 per cent pass rate.
Students achieved an average points score of 33, exceeding the global average of 30.
Top performers include Arabella King, Hannah O’Neill and Holly Pittaway. Holly’s 42 points put her among the top 4 per cent of IB students internationally.
The IB awards students points rather than grades and a score of 33 points carries more UCAS points than A*A*A* at A Level.
Headteacher, Nick Gibson, said “We are delighted with another superb set of Sixth Form results and we are very proud of our students and staff.
“Our Sixth Form has gone from strength to strength and I have no doubt that these results will rank the school in the top 10 nationally. Many of our students have now secured their place at their chosen University and we wish them every success.”
BTEC students also performed well, with 80 per cent achieving D**D or better on the Extended Diploma.
“To achieve these results with a truly comprehensive intake of students is outstanding. It is testament to the students’ hard work, the backing of their families, and our superb teaching and support staff,” added Simon Smallman, Head of Sixth Form.
