Recycling company fails to clear out overflowing bin in Redditch despite pressure

FOR months a recycling company has failed to clear out one of its overflowing bins in Redditch town centre.

The waste container owned by R&S Recycling, located next to Dow Surgery on William Street, has become a growing concern for residents who have reported seeing rats nearby.

A resident, who didn’t want to be named, said: “When I phoned R&S Recycling they told me they ‘didn’t have the right vehicle available’ to collect the rubbish.

“I’ve put in a few calls to them now because I think it’s disgusting what they’re getting away with.

“The bin has been there throughout all of the summer and it’s still there now.”

On Monday, September 30 a spokesperson for R&S said they would ‘send someone immediately’ to clear out the waste.

However the rubbish wasn’t collected.

After putting in another call on Wednesday, October 9 a spokesperson told the Standard: “We were under the impression the bin was collected six months ago.

“Whoever said the bin would be collected last week didn’t pass the message on to the relevant members of our team.

“We will make sure it’s cleared by Friday, October 11.”

A month later and the bin still hasn’t been cleared.
