Redditch actor puts her stamp on post office drama

A REDDITCH NHS worker is part of a new stage show about the Post Office horizon scandal.

Sarah Pitts plays several characters in play including a villager, a help-desk woman, Angela van Bogard, and A Fujitsu muppet.

‘False Accounts’ is set in 1999 when the Post Office installed a new computer system which led to thousands of pounds going missing and hundreds of sub-postmasters being wrongly accused of false accounting, theft and fraud.

Sarah said:” I work for the NHS as an abdominal aortic aneurysm screener part time and as a Spotlight accredited actress with my agent Celex.

“The play is written by the talented Lance S A Nielson and produced by Outcasts.

“It’s a brilliant new piece with local actors, about the scandal, which is under inquiry now.”

This is the first time the production will come to a British stage.

The play is being premiered at The Old Joint Stock Pub and Theatre in Birmingham, starting on Wednesday and running until next Saturday, October 19 to 22.

Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are £15.

Sarah added: “We believe this is a really important piece and have been told by those who went through it in real life that it is actually having a positive influence on expediting government action.

“For me it is an honour to be a part of this production to help tell the victim’s story and raise awareness.

“I am excited for the show next week.”
