REDDITCH anti-knife crime campaigner Pete Martin has reached a major milestone, speaking to 50,000 young people since the Drop The Knife Project began.
Pete has campaigned against Knife Crime since witnessing his best friend being stabbed multiple time in 2011.
He visits schools and colleges in the Redditch and Bromsgrove area and educates young people about the dangers and consequences of knife crime.
At the end of November, he reached the total of 50,000 young people since the project began with his Drop The Knife Project.
He has been at the forefront of anti-knife crime campaigns in the town and has recently been installing bleed kits throughout the community.
The kits are endorsed by West Midland Ambulance Service and are used by the public in the case of a stabbing.
The Control The Bleed kit locations are also stored in a national database and accessed by 999 phone operators.
Any caller will be told which kit is nearest their location for fastest collection to provide vital aid by preventing blood loss.
Pete has received numerous awards including a points of light award from the Prime Minister.
He said: “I have worked hard to try and reduce Violent crime in our area so no one else has to suffer the way my friend did.
“The campaign has been a joint effort with West Mercia Police, schools, people in the local community and Redditch and Bromsgrove Borough Council its very much a team effort.
“Knife crime is a problem that can affect anyone of us or our loved ones at any time.”
