THE world’s biggest drawing festival came to Redditch last weekend for the first time ever.

On Saturday, October 28, Redditch Youth and Community Enterprice (RYCE) at the Redi Centre took part in the World’s Biggest Drawing Festival where people were invited to showcase their skills, regardless of experience.

Exhibits from local artists and sign-writing filled the main room and there were displays from the two art groups that are held at the centre on Thursday and Saturday mornings too.

Tutor Emma Abel was on hand to explain the various art projects available to take part in, including stone painting, and drawing.

Councillor Pattie Hill (Lab, Batchley and Brockhill) joined in the stone painting and MP for Redditch Rachel Maclean also popped in for the artistic fun.

Mrs Maclean said: “This is a brilliant centre doing so much for the local community, and I’m excited to hear about their plans for refurbishment to make it even better and brighter,” she said.

“It was great to chat to hardworking volunteers and leaders, whose commitment and dedication I really admire, and to see them promoting a great cause like The Big Draw.”

Margaret Groves event co-ordinator, said: “The event which was a great success and enjoyed by all ages.”

As well as the art show, a Halloween quiz night and fancy dress competition were held, with special-effects gory makeup and a bouncy castle.

The Redi Centre is expanding the projects it does in its music and recording studio during its Monday and Friday youth club sessions.
