Redditch band is on song for the Super Bowl

Redditch Editorial 2nd Feb, 2024   0

A REDDITCH singer is living his American dream after his bands song will feature at the Super Bowl.

‘Gathering of Strangers’ recorded the song ‘Red and Gold’ in 2022 and, afterwards, lead singer Conor Rabone contacted the San Francisco 49ers – as their team colours are red and gold – to ask if they wanted to walk out to their song.

Conor, who works for Thomas Brothers funeral directors in Redditch and plays in the band on the side, said he did not expect to hear anything back off the team, but was really surprised when they contacted us and said they loved the song.

The track was then played at every game the San Francisco 49ers played at home at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara.

And, victory for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday over the Detroit Lions means the team will face the Kansas City Chiefs on February 4 in the Super Bowl.

‘Red and Gold’ will be played as the 49ers run out before the match with a potential 115.1million people hearing the song – that was the global audience for last year’s Super Bowl which is the second most watched sporting event in the world.

The band has nearly 17,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone, and are hoping this exposure will boost them further.

Red and Gołd is on all streaming platforms and available to purchase on iTunes and the Google Play Store.

As well as singer Conor, Gathering of Strangers is made up of Tom (guitar), Pete (drums), Bruce (keys and bass) and Andre (guitar and bass).
