Redditch band on song with fund raising number for Primrose Hospice

A BAND has written a heartfelt song in memory of two friends to raise money for Primrose Hospice.

Merrymaker’s latest single Evergreen will raise money for the hospice, based in St Godwalds Road, Bromsgrove, as well as bereavement charity Edward’s Trust.

Dan Sealey and Adam Barry from Headless Cross said they were moved to write the song and support the hospice following the deaths of their friends Ona Haynes and Aidan Keane.

Dan, formerly of Ocean Colour Scene, said Ona had been supported by the hospice before she died.

“We wanted to write a song for Ona and her family because they have always supported us,” he said.

“We recently shared it with them and they love it and have been really grateful and helpful.

“The inspiration behind the song was Ona because she was very much into nature and was quite Pagan by nature too

“When we told the family we wanted to do a charity single they asked straightaway if we could do it for Primrose Hospice.”

Adam added: “The family spoke so highly of everyone at Primrose.

“The song is quite fitting because her death did affect us.

“She was so young and such a great spirit and great support. It seemed like the natural thing to do really.

“The song resonates with anyone who has lost someone and they take their own meaning from the lyrics.”

The pair say they have received lovely feedback about the song and the video which was shot on Bromyard Downs by Smart Aerial Services and Off The Film Media.

Evergreen is the lead single taken from the band’s EP which was released earlier this month and is available to download at tinyurl.com/MerrymakerEvergreen as well as other digital platforms.
