Disability Support Project gets congratulated for its 'excellent work' in House of Parliament

A REDDITCH disability support group was congratulated for the service they provide by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (SSWP) in Parliament last week.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean asked SSWP Esther McVey if she would acknowledge Disability Support Project (DSP) for the positive impact it’s had on the town.

She replied: “I will indeed congratulate and thank the group for the excellent work and what they do.

“There is still a long way to go but I want to reassure you that we have never spent more supporting people with disabilities and health conditions.

“Now £54billion a year – up £9billion since 2010.”

Disability Support Project CEO Alex Powell said: “It’s absolutely crazy to think we were mentioned in the House of Parliament.

“When I first found out I was lost for words.”

DSP Chairman and Volunteer Nathaniel Tempest was also shocked when he saw the footage.

He commented on Facebook: “Well it’s safe to say that we’re being noticed.”
