Redditch Blues donates over £200 worth of food to town foodbank

REDDITCH Blues has donated more than £200 worth of food to a town foodbank to help those struggling this Christmas.

It is part of the charity driver launched by the Birmingham City Football Club Foundation, where each group donates food or cash to a foodbank.

Lynda Courts, who runs the club, decided to donate to Redditch Foodbank which is based in the town centre.

Lynda said: “All of the food and money has come from our amazing community at Redditch Blues.

“Everyone either chipped in with food donations or cash.

“I’m so proud of how much we have raised.”

This is the first time the group has done an appeal for a foodbank and it hopes it will become a regular thing.

Rev Ian Evans, who runs the foodbank, said there had been a lot of people seeking help this year.

He said: “We have been inundated with items – the support has been fantastic.

“So far we have about two tonnes of food, but we could always have more.”

The foodbank is specifically looking for tinned goods, shower gel and shampoo.

People can visit redditch.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/ to donate cash or drop into the foodbank on Church Green East.
