TWO BOROUGH beauties will go head-to-head this weekend in the hope of being crowned Miss Birmingham.
Rachael Baker, from Brockhill, will compete against fellow Redditch resident Chloe Rambini, who is from Southcrest but currently studying as a student midwife at the University of Worcester.
Rachael, who came fourth in Miss Worcestershire in January, said: “This could be my last chance as I am hoping to start planning my wedding and can’t compete once I’m married.”
But the 22-year-old, who attended RSA Academy Arrow Vale, almost missed out at another shot at a beauty crown, being only offered a place after another pageant hopeful had to withdraw.
“I’ve been so lucky, out of 850 girls I’ve now been given a space – it’s a real honour,” she said.
Following a gruelling 32-mile bike ride in January in aid of the the competition’s charity – Beauty With a Purpose – Rachael is now desperately trying to raise more funds by selling clothes following the whirlwind offer of a place in the competition.
Newcomer Chloe is no stranger to fund-raising herself, having completed a long distance triathlon on Wednesday (March 16) when plans to climb Mount Snowdon fell through due to weather warnings.
The second fund-raising attempt saw Chloe swim, run and cycle over 30km in aid of Beauty With a Purpose.
The 19-year-old, who is determined to conquer Snowdon in the summer, said she isn’t letting nerves get the best of her in the run up to her first competition.
“It is my first time but I’m not really nervous, I’m just excited,” she added.
The girls will compete to be crowned Miss Birmingham at the Burlington Hotel in the city on Sunday (March 20).
