Redditch breast cancer fashion show aims to inspire this weekend

BOSOM Friends breast cancer support group will hold its 9th charity Fashion Show at Redditch Town Hall this Sunday, October 13.

Organisers are hoping the event will inspire others as all of the catwalk models have been through treatment for breast cancer themselves.

Everyone working backstage has also been treated for breast cancer or supported a relative with the disease.

The theme of this year’s show is ‘An Afternoon at the Opera’, with performances from opera singers and pianists.

Organiser Peter Molloy said: “We are very fortunate that the Mayor of Redditch will be attending and BBC Presenter Satnam Rana will be our compere for the day.

“Satnam has received treatment for breast cancer and is a long-standing supporter of Bosom Friends.”

In addition to the main show there will also be a silent auction and a raffle with an array of valuable prized donated by local businesses and individuals.

“Nick Purser from the Alexandra Hospital will be our Auctioneer.

“As with previous years all the money raised will be used to improve services for Breast Cancer Patients in Redditch and Bromsgrove.”

Bosom Friends was formed in 1996 by the breast care nurses based at the Alexandra Hospital as they felt there was a growing need for a local support network for those individuals who have experienced breast cancer diagnosis.

The group meets monthly in several locations in Bromsgrove and Redditch and is always supported by at least one of the breast care nurses from the Alexandra Hospital.
