Redditch businesses joined forces to learn about carbon offsetting

TWO Redditch businesses have joined forces to learn about carbon offsetting and how it can be used in their operations.

The Old Needle Works Foundation visited TRT Lighting’s Group’s tree-planting afforestation project in Monmouthshire.

This carbon-offsetting scheme helps compensate for the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere as an indirect result of the factory production, distribution and selling activities relating to TRT luminaires.

Kirsty Conley from The Old Needle Works Foundation said: “The silviculturist gave a presentation and tour of the woodland which was educational, providing plenty of information on the forest management, types of tree species, sequestering rates and the overall project aims and goals.

“Not only was it an informative day, but it was also very satisfying to assist in the upkeep of the forest, to plant over 100 hawthorn saplings and take part in this award-winning initiative.

“It felt good to know that we were all working together to help the environment and make a difference.”
