“WE can do it!” – that’s the slogan of a new network in Redditch looking at ways to take action locally on the climate crisis.

Named ‘Redditch CAN’ (Climate Action Network), they’re keen to bring together anyone interested in taking action to tackle climate change.

Current thinking includes tree-planting schemes, community gardening, lobbying decision makers and much more.

They think they can do it, so they’re kicking things off with a public meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at The Redi Centre, starting at 7.30pm.

“The clock is ticking on climate change, but thankfully we’re seeing a lot of interest locally around the issues,” said Redditch CAN spokesman Michael Bennett.

“People are stepping forward with ideas and activities – in schools, community groups, churches, businesses and individually.

“We think it’s time we all pulled together and organised a network, because Redditch CAN help!

“So if you want to be a part of something for the future, come along to the public meeting.”

The meeting will be facilitated by West Midlands Friends of the Earth and hopes to come up with positive steps for community solutions to the climate crisis.

Anyone who isn’t able to attend on the night can still follow Redditch CAN on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
