REDDITCH’S one stop shop for carers is holding a special Fair to showcase just how it can help anyone caring for a loved, friend or neighbour.
Organised by the town’s Carers Careline, its Carers Fair is on Thursday, November 28 as a contribution to the nationwide Carers Rights Day.
“If you’re a carer for someone you will know just how difficult it is to get hold of information and useful advice,” said Fiona Mitchell, the charity’s chief officer.
“There are so many agencies, care homes, groups and services that can help with different queries but how do you know where to start?
“We’ve arranged a Carers Fair and have at least 16 different services coming to exhibit.”
The fair runs from 10am to 12noon and could well prove a lifeline, especially for those who have just begun caring.
“It’s a chance to find out what’s available to support them without having to trudge backwards and forwards around the town,” added Fiona.
The event is at the Ecumenical Centre in Evesham Walk, on the right just before the Halifax Bank.
“We’ll also be hosting our Christmas handmade sale so we’d love people to join us for fun, coffee, cake and to connect with other carers,” said Fiona.
There will also be information on community transport, care at home, staying safe, Alzheimer’s, legal implications, care homes and much more.
“We know there are more than 9,000 unrecognised carers in Redditch – mostly looking after family members and don’t realise they are in fact carers,” said Fiona.
“Many don’t realise there is a lot of support out in the town that they can access. It’s our job to help them find it.”
