CHURCH Hill Big Local are appealing for donations to help towards the funeral costs for a founding member of the charity.
Nettie Lloyd died in June at the age of 76.
Before Nettie passed, she was unable to put her affairs in order and so would only be entitled to a Public Health Funeral which would be arranged by the local authority.
The charity have set up a fundraising page, so they are able to give Nettie the send off she deserves.
Bill Hartnett ward councillor for Church Hill paid tribute to the work Nettie did for the community throughout her life.
He said: “Nettie would help anyone, and she was involved with Redditch Older Peoples Forum, Mendip House Residents Association, Redditch Labour Group and events and groups at St. Andrews Methodist Church.
“She is going to be greatly missed by all of us in Church Hill and the wider community.
“Nettie never said no to volunteering, the world is a sadder place today without her.”
A crowdfunding page has been set up for people to donate online.
Alternatively cash donation can be received at The Way Café at St. Andrews Church on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays between 10am and 1pm and Krafty Sew ‘n’ Sew Craft Group on Tuesdays between 1pm and 3pm.
The funeral is at Redditch Crematorium on Thursday August 24 at 9.30am.
