Redditch Charity champion raises £1,000 for Macmillan

THE LATEST coffee morning held by charity champion Diane Driscoll has raised £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event – at Diane’s home in Vicarage Crescent – saw the community come together to enjoy coffee, tea and plenty of delicious cakes.

And there was also a raffle, a tombola and a nearly new rail.

Another £300 has been generated by Di selling apples grown in her garden.

Diane has been running the coffee morning for more than 15 years and this year’s amount takes her total fund-raising to almost £33,000.

Di said: “The house was absolutely jam-packed and, luckily the weather was good, so we were able to have more people in the garden .

“Some brought cakes and others bought cakes and I sold some of my jams and chutneys.”

Di wants to thank everyone who has donated items, including Marks and Spencer, Bruno the Bakery in Studley, Richard the Butcher, The Spar shop and Love Your Hair – all in Batchley, along with motor mechanic Justin Clay from Windsor Road.

Di added: “It’s phenomenal how people keep turning out to support this event.”
