STAFF from Redditch-based nursing charity Cavell Nurses’ Trust are pushing themselves to the limit taking on 10K challenges this month.
Kicking off the campaign #10Kfornurses which is running throughout October, Jorj Jarvie took on a 10K rowing challenge on Monday (October 2).
At 10am, she started rowing at Redditch’s Pure Gym, with all sponsorship money raised going to towards the charity, which gives money and support to nursing professionals experiencing financial hardship.
To make things more interesting she is challenging anyone to beat her 10k row time – so if you think you can go faster than her time of 49 minutes, she will match pound for pound what they raise for the charity.
A spokesperon for Cavell said: “Jorj did her 10k row as part of the #10kForNurses month where everyone is coming together raising money for nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants in need.
“We’re trying to raise £10k across October – and we’re hoping we can smash that target.”
Jorji has already raised around £250 and other staff based in Redditch are taking on challenges too, including a 10K run and 10K on a space hopper – and they are looking for more people to get on board with the campaign.
Doing a 10K doesn’t just mean running either, and those who are less fond of physical challenges may prefer to bake 10 thousand calories of cakes, aim for a 10,000 kiss-a-thon, or even simply donate 10,000 pennies.
Cavell Nurses’ Trust provides vital support to all UK nurses during very difficult times and they offer help to registered nurses, midwives, healthcare assistants, student nurses and retired nurses who have given a lifetime of caring and compassion.
