BIG-HEARTED chef Tom Prescott is serving up a tasty treat and helping to raise vital funds for the NHS.
The furloughed chef is selling raffle tickets for £2.50 with a a top prize of a roast Sunday dinner for four every time he hits the £100 mark.
And with the Meating Joint supplying the meat for free, it means as much money as possible is heading to support frontline medics and nursing staff.
“I cook the meal at home and then deliver it to the winner’s doorstep,” said freelance chef who has worked at the Southcrest Hotel and Abbey Hotel.
Tom’s set up a Go Fund Me page and from an initial target of £100 he’s already smashed the £500 barrier and as a result is being kept busy in the kitchen.
“I was getting bored at home – my mum is a nurse but is self-isolating and I thought this was one way of using the skills I have and doing some good and a bit different,” said the 31-year-old.
Laura Thomas from the Meating Joint said: “Tom has been a customer of ours for a while and he messaged me asking if we wanted to get involved.
“We do sponsorship and like to support things in the community and Tom’s idea was just the sort of thing we like to get involved in.
“It’s a lovely idea and has really taken off.”
Tom has all his health and hygiene certificates and money raised goes in aid of NHS Charities Together /Association of NHS Charities.
