Redditch church treats guest to late Christmas present

MEMBERS of St Peters Church in Ipsley were treated to dinner and a show for their belated Christmas celebrations.

Once a month, St Peters Pantry, which is based at the church, serves a lunch for members and friends with the entertainment this time round being a short pantomime entitled Cinderella Ella.

The play was written by Rhoda Lingard and the actors were all church members who had never ventured into dramatic roles before.

Rhoda said: “This was an undated version of the traditional version of Cinderella, now politically correct.

“No longer do we speak of ‘ugly sisters’ they are now ‘less than attractive sisters’, and the ‘evil stepmother’ is now just ‘unkind’.

“Of course the main characters, the sisters are played by gentlemen.”
