Redditch community pantry given face lift by talented volunteer

Redditch Editorial 26th Jun, 2023   0

A COMMUNITY pantry in Redditch has had a welcome facelift thanks to the talent and goodwill of a local artist.

The pantry is run by a handful of staff and volunteers from Batchley Support Group, offering free food to those in need in Redditch and the wider county.

Paige Jones is a local artist who regularly volunteers at the Batchley Support group and offered to design and paint the pantry.

The 23-year-old, from Batchley, brightened the place up with rainbow-coloured lettering and images of the various foods the pantry has on offer.

Community development manager Mark Barron said the support group was hugely grateful to Paige and was very happy with the results.

And the grateful group has now offered Paige a stall at their upcoming Beach on the Green event to display her work.

The free event will take place between July 21 and 23 and will see a temporary man-made beach come to Redditch town centre, along with plenty of stalls for shoppers to browse.

It will be run by the support group alongside Reimagine Redditch and Redditch BID.
