PEOPLE in Redditch are being urged to vote for the community projects they think most deserve funding of up to £25,000.
Five applications from Redditch have been received for funding from the Aviva Community Fund, and town MP Karen Lumley is encouraging constituents to place their votes for the local projects before the deadline of November 18.
Mrs Lumley said: “Everyone gets ten votes and you can choose to give all ten to a single project or split them between a number of projects.
“But it has to be said that every one of these projects is extremely worthwhile and does invaluable work in the local community, so I would urge everyone to get on and vote.”
The projects in Redditch are for Charlotte and Craigs Saving Hearts Foundation, which aims to put 17 life saving defibrillators in every community centre in Redditch, Homestart NE Worcestershire, which funds volunteers to help families in their own homes, offering advice on supporting children’s emotional, educational and physical development; Rory the Robot to raise funds to provide an advanced robotic surgery unit for the Alexandra Hospital; Redditch Cricket, Hockey and Rugby Club, who are looking to improve their well-used gym facility; and First Church Hill Scout Group, who need to refurbish their toilet area, cloakroom and kitchen, which were first built in the 1970s.
The Aviva Community Fund awards cash to local community projects across a range of categories, and the winners – announced in January – will be chosen from the projects that receive the most public votes.
