Redditch Community Shed to celebrate £20,000 National Lottery funding

REDDITCH Community Shed has been awarded a £20,000 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The Redditch Community Shed is part of the wider UK Men’s Shed movement, providing a welcoming space where people can connect, share skills and support one another.

Open to both men and women, the Shed reflects the diverse community of Redditch and plays a vital role in tackling loneliness and improving wellbeing.

A spokesperson for the community said: “We really do depend on this funding to keep doing what we do.

“Please keep supporting, visiting and buying the bespoke handcrafted items.”

Town MP Chris Bloore shed to meet members and celebrate the fund.

During the visit, held at the Shed’s base in the Kingfisher Centre, Mr Bloore met members, learned more about the group’s work and presented the funding cheque at a small ceremony marking the achievement.

Among those Bloore met was Terry, aged 95, who has attended regularly for more than three years and is described by the group as an inspiration to fellow members.

The MP said: “Groups like this play a vital role in supporting wellbeing, building friendships and bringing people together. You can see first-hand the difference it makes to people’s lives.

“This funding is a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved. It will help the Shed continue to grow, support more people and remain a cornerstone of the community here in Redditch.”

The funding will support the Shed’s projects and development over the next two years, helping to expand activities and ensure the long-term sustainability of the group.

The Redditch Community Shed meets twice weekly at 7 George Walk in the Kingfisher Centre and welcomes new members from across the community.
