THORLUX Lighting in Redditch is the latest business to sponsor a Worcester art trail in a bid to raise cash for St Richard’s Hospice.

The lighting manufacturer, based at Moons Moat Industrial Estate, is sponsoring an elephant sculpture which will be on display in the city during the two-month exhibition.

Worcester’s Big Parade, running from July 12 to September 5, will culminate with an auction where each elephant, of which there are around 65, will be sold to raise funds for the hospice.

The project builds on the hugely successful Worcester Stands Tall trail in 2018, which saw giraffe sculptures displayed across the city for art lovers to enjoy.

In the end it raised a staggering £210,000 for St Richard’s.

Thorlux financial director, Craig Muncaster, said: “We’re very aware of the care St Richard’s provides to patients and families locally. It’s a charity which strikes a chord with the team here.

“When we heard about the elephant parade we thought it was a great way to support our hospice heroes.”

Sara Matthews, business development manager at St Richard’s, said: “We’re excited to welcome Thorlux Lighting to the parade as a brand new sponsor and absolutely love the design that they’ve chosen to bring to life.

“We can’t say too much about the elephant artwork until the big reveal but this will definitely be one to look out for.”
