Redditch councillor elected as Armed Forces Champion

A REDDITCH councillor has been elected at the Armed Forces Champion for the borough.

The role of the Armed Forces Champion is to be a role model for colleagues and have a supporting role around Veterans and Reservists issues in Redditch.

Coun Alex Fogg, who represents the Matchborough Ward, said he is proud to be elected.

“It’s a great privilege for me to have been voted into this position and will strive to ensure Ex forces personnel and their families are treated fairly within our community.”

After six years service in the Royal Engineers, Coun Fogg was medically discharged and in need of support from the wounded and sick community.

Now volunteering as a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer Instructor he is keen to help others in Redditch who have had to face the big transition of returning to civilian life from a career in the Armed Forces.

Leader of Redditch borough council, Matt Dormer said: “Coun Fogg is the right choice for this position.

This isn’t about simply who is the most decorated soldier, but about the integrity and moral fabric of the person.

“Knowing Alex as I do I know that he will be an asset to this town and all the Armed Services families within it.”
