A CROSS-PARTY group of Redditch county councillors have dug deep to help vulnerable Redditch residents this Christmas.

Six of the borough’s representatives have contributed £100 each to Redditch-based A Head of Wellbeing which runs The Freedom Project for local victims of domestic abuse.

The cash will be used to give the children of the organisation’s clients will have a something on Christmas Day.

“It’s a cross-party initiative and I am absolutely delighted that we could all come together in this way,” said Coun Juliet Brunner (Con, Arrow Valley East).

She was joined by fellow councillors Robin Lunn (Lab, Redditch North), Andy Fry (Lab, Arrow Valley West), Brandon Clayton (Con, Redditch North), Tom Baker-Price (Con, Arrow Valley East), and Jane Potter (Con, Redditch South).

Coun Brunner also praised shoppers at Morrisons supermarket who throughout the festive season have been donating toys as part of an appeal organised by the supermarket’s community champion Bev Allington.

These will also be donated to the family refuge.

“Bev is absolutely fantastic – she is the best possible advertisement for Morrisons and we are very lucky to have her,” said Coun Brunner.
