Redditch couple put up £1,000 reward for return of beloved cat

A REDDITCH couple are offering a £1,000 reward for the return of their stolen cat.

The tortoiseshell and white cat, called Princess, was taken off the driveway of the family home in Marlpool Drive on Friday.

CCTV footage shows Princess being picked up and put under the coat of a man.

Investigations by her owners, Steve Churchard and Clare Bailey have revealed that their cat was later dumped outside Threadneedle House in Alcester Street in the town centre.

“We are absolutely distraught,” said Steve.

“She is a member of our family, we had her as a rescue, given her a great life and for this to happen…well, we’re heartbroken.”

The couple have contacted the police without any success.

“They came round but said because the cat was released it wasn’t a case of theft – they were so disinterested – and I told them it would have been different if we were dealing with a child here,” said Steve.

The couple have put posters up around the town, even used a sniffer dog to try and track her down and are now offering £1,000 for the return of Princess.

“We’d offer £10,000 if we have the money,” said Steve.
