Redditch Crematorium reopens following £400k refurbishment

Redditch Editorial 30th Oct, 2017   0

AFTER an extensive refurbishment over a 13 week period, the main building at Redditch Crematorium has now reopened.

The refurbishment, which took place between July 24 and October 20, sees a new upgraded chapel with brand new seating and the option to use coloured lighting should service users wish to enhance a colour theme throughout their ceremony.

The toilet facilities in the building have also been completely remodelled to make them modern and fit for purpose.

The construction of a new waiting area separate from the main ceremonial facilities now means that where previously there were issues with noise being overheard in the chapel, this should no longer be a problem.

High quality acoustic grade interior fittings have also helped create three distinct spaces for waiting, ceremony and post ceremony.

Michael Birkinshaw, Bereavement Services Manager, said: “The new waiting area is a much needed and well overdue addition to the new building and all of the upgrades to our facilities now mean that we can provide an even higher level of service to the bereaved.”

Coun Debbie Chance, whose portfolio covers Bereavement Services, said: “We have taken the original 1970’s design and given it a complete overhaul bringing it right up to date. We can now offer our service users modern facilities with more options, at what is a particularly sensitive time, to ensure that the celebration of their loved ones life is exactly as they would want it.”
