A REDDITCH man has returned home victorious from his battle Down Under against Australia as the front of the Visually Impaired England Cricket team.

Luke Sugg, of Headless Cross, was the captain during The Lord Taverner’s England V Australia series T20 and brought home the trophy after they won three of the test matches and finished ahead by 73 runs with no players out on the last day.

He said: “It’s a great feeling coming home victorious. We played some of the best cricket I’ve witnessed at times, and coming home with the trophy just feels fantastic.

“It was a competitive series as always with Australia, but to come out on top after the disappointment of 2012, is what we really strived for at the beginning of the series.

“Overall, the tour went well – the major thing for me was the fact that all the players stepped up and worked as a team.

“We had different bowlers taking wickets, different batsman scoring runs. It was a lot of cricket in a short space of time, and for the team to stay together, was great to see.”
