Redditch e-scooter provider Bird offers free trips to polling stations

Redditch Editorial 5th May, 2022   0

REDDITCH e-scooter provider Bird is offering free rides on its eco-friendly scooters to help people get to and from the polls today, May 5.

Riders simply need to enter the code VOTE22 into the app where they will automatically be given two free rides of 15 minutes each, so they can travel to cast their vote at their local polling station.

“Voting is one of our most fundamental rights as citizens, so we want to make sure people have a safe and secure way of getting to the polls on election day. Lack of access to transportation should neither prevent nor prohibit anyone from voting.” James Padden, general manager of Bird.

“Bird takes our commitment to provide mobility for all seriously, which is why we’re pleased we can play a role in helping people to cast their vote.”

In March, Bird and Redditch Borough Council announced the extension of the e-scooter trial until the end of November 2022.

To coincide with the extension, Bird deployed a brand new fleet of its industry-leading Bird Three vehicles, its most advanced e-scooter to date as well as providing free rides to NHS workers.
