Redditch families plea for help with brave Remy's battle

AN APPEAL has been launched to help a Redditch family who are struggling after their son was struck down by an unexplained illness.

Lauren Pattison is raising funds after her son Remy started experiencing severe, unexpected seizures in December 2024.

She said when she found Remy unresponsive for the first time, it was the most traumatic experience she had lived through.

“Remy was blue-lighted to hospital where he was rushed to resuscitation and they spent a while trying to medicate him to bring him out of a ‘seizure’.

“Myself and Remy’s dad Ryan were taken into the family room and we thought the worst. We thought we was losing our precious one-year-old baby boy.”

Remy came out of the seizure but needed help with his breathing and was diagnosed with an ear nose and throat infection.

He had had a ‘complex febrile seizure’ but his CT scan came back normal.

Christmas Day arrived and the family, alongside their other two children, had fun opening presents but once again it was short-lived as Remy started having multiple episodes.

Lauren said: “We were once again blue-lighted to hospital where Remy spent another few days after having another six seizures.

“They performed an EEG test which came back normal and we were sent on our way with no answers.”

During the next three months Lauren and Ryan said they went through hell, with Remy having multiple illnesses and seizures daily.

It took until April for Remy to be diagnosed with Epilepsy.

Although Lauren is relieved to finally have an answer, it is far from plain sailing.

She said: “He has to take medication morning and night to try and prevent seizures, but for the next few weeks and months this could mean more hospital visits as he could still have seizures whilst we find out what dose and medication is best for him.”

Since last December, Lauren and Ryan have had minimal wages coming in, as all of their time has been spent caring for Remy.

Lauren added: “We have come to the realisation that we need financial relief whilst we try and juggle the next chapter of Remy’s life whilst still trying to provide for our other two children.

“Myself and Ryan have really been putting this off for a while but we have now had to bite the bullet.”

The family have set a fundraising goal of £1,000 and so far they have raised £1,300.
