Redditch family says 'thank you' to hospital with festive lights

A BIG-hearted Redditch couple are lighting up the night for Christmas – and it’s all to thank Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

Back in 2013 Joanne Sutton and Brian Parr’s son Jamie suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was just 16 months old.

He was looked after at the Childrens and Joanne said the family couldn’t speak highly enough of the care he received from staff there.

“We always have lots of lights on the house at Christmas and people kept telling us we should be doing it for charity and this year we’ve got ourselves in the right frame of mine to do just that,” said Joanne.

As a result the couple have splashed out on a few more lights and have now received a banner from the hospital so people know all donations received will be going to a good cause.

“There will be a sign on the fence and we’re also hoping to offer mince pies as well,” added Joanne.

The couple have three other children and they are all excited as the prospect of the display as the festive season approaches.

“We spent a lot of time at the Children’s Hospital and this is a cause close to our hearts.

“It’s been a struggle at times with Jamie but the hospital did a tremendous job for him and we just want to say thank you,” said Joanne.

The couple live at 3 Foxcote Close, off Whitehouse Lane in Winyates East and all donations will be gratefully received.
