Redditch firm donates specialist bath to woman with cerebral palsy

REDDITCH firm Abacus Healthcare recently donated a specialist bath to a woman living with cerebral palsy.

The bath was donated to Karis Lane, aged 28, during the filming of BBC show DIY SOS.

Karis appeared on the programme with her sister Johanna and partner William who contacted presenter Nick Knowles and his team for help.

The experts built a two-storey extension on the side of the couple’s home so Karis could move in with the pair full time.

Karis requires a wheelchair to remain mobile and full-time care but thanks to Abacus and other local companies, she now has more freedom than ever before.

Specialist company ‘Stiltz’ also kindly donated a homelift while the work was being carried out.

Witnessing the transformation for the first time, Karis said: “Thank you DIY SOS you did so much more than build a home.

“You made me realise how much my family do care which is something I will not take for granted.”
