GENEROUS staff at a local Redditch firm have raised more than £7k for ‘Children with Cancer UK’.

Tech provider Vietec, based on Clive Road, made the decision to support the charity throughout the whole of 2018.

Staff raised the money by taking part in several fundraising activities.

Vietec’s operations director Stephen Oliver and assistant trainee manager Sam Blair, put on their running shoes for the London Marathon in April.

Together they manged to raise more than £1,300 towards Vietec’s annual target.

The charity is very close to Mr Blair’s heart because he was diagnosed with leukaemia when he was just two-years-old.

Ashleigh from Children with Cancer UK said: “Sam and his family have been involved with the charity for a number of years.

“We were delighted to hear he was fundraising for us again this year.”

Other activities included two golf days, at the Gaudet Luce Leisure Complex in Droitwich, which saw more than 50 golfers take part in an 18-hole competition.

Following the course the golfers enjoyed a drink in the club-house where a charity raffle also took place.

Prizes included a signed Manchester United pennant, Worcester Racecourse County Enclosure tickets, Cineworld vouchers and champagne.

Ashleigh said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Vietec for choosing Children with Cancer UK as their charity of the year for 2018.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed to the incredible £7,377.52 raised which will go towards the fight the injustice of cancer in children and help more children ring their end of treatment bell.”
