A REDDITCH food technician has near doubled her fundraising money after completing the London marathon last weekend.

Ela Hall, from St Bede’s Catholic Middle School has raised £425 for the Samaritans.

She said: “Running the London Marathon was my secret dream since I started running some years ago.

“A few strong female friends and teachers at St Bede’s School helped me find my inspiration and motivation for running and helping people, for that I am forever grateful.

“It was an amazing day, the weather was great and it really was a once in a lifetime experience.”

Her original target was £250, and she said she was overwhelmed with the support for her fundraising.

“I’m so grateful for everyone who has donated, the Samaritans is a great cause and I’m proud to be able to donate as much money as I have.

“I chose the Samaritans because of the lifesaving work they do, they offer support to so many people.”

Assistant Headteacher, Matt Russell, said: “As a school we extremely proud of Mrs Hall for completing the London Marathon on Sunday.

“We know how dedicated she is to helping pupils in school, and she has shown the same dedication in her training. As a school community we are very proud that she is upholding the values of the school and has managed to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause.”
