THE Mayor of Redditch, Councillor Joe Baker and fellow councillors from across the political spectrum joined representatives of the services, the Armed Forces and members of the British Royal Legion to raise the Armed Forces flag at Redditch Town Hall today (Monday, June 20).

The flag raising, in the pouring rain, marked the first step of the borough’s preparations for Armed Forces Day this coming Saturday, June 25 which will see servicemen and women march from the Town Hall at 10.30am to the war memorial at St Stephens for 11am.

“This is in recognition of all the hard work and dedication of the Armed Forces in the UK,” said Coun Baker.

“It’s also to show our gratitude for all the protection they give this country, their peacekeeping, the help they deliver in disaster areas and for the sheer dedication that members of the Armed Forces, and their families provide each year.”
