THE NEWS that one in 20 of all Midlands Air Ambulance (MAA) missions is to attend a golfer suffering a heart attack has prompted Redditch Golf Club’s new captains to choose MAA as their charity of the year.
Club Captain Cas Capewell and Ladies Captain Sue Garforth selected the charity to help raise awareness of the life-saving work the service undertakes.
Mr Capewell said: “MAA’s 2014 report shows the charity attended 84 people on golf courses that year – that’s one every four days.”
More than £7million is needed each year to keep MAA’s three air ambulances operational.
