ACORNS Children’s Hospice is more than £12,000 better off due to the generosity of Redditch Golf Club members.

The charity was selected by 2017 captains Kevin Creighton and Joy Mutton as their cause of the year.

Kevin and Joy met Natalia Solanki from Acorn Children’s Hospice at the Lower Grinsty Lane club to hand over a cheque for £12,154.06.

Joy said: “It costs £7,000 a day to keep the doors open at the children’s hospice and we are so proud to be able to ‘pay for a day’ at the hospice with the amazing amount we raised over 2017.

Natalia said: “Acorns Children’s Hospice is delighted to receive this amazing £12,000 donation raised so generously by Redditch Golf Club and its members.

“Every year Acorns supports 876 life limited or life threatened children and over 1,090 families across the region.

“Donations like this help us ensure that we can continue to provide this vital care as well as creating laughter, fun and magical memories for those who use our services,” she said.

Established 30 years ago this year, Acorns Children’s Hospice has three hospices in Selly Oak, Walsall and Worcester.
