GOLFERS in Redditch have been teeing off in the name of charity this month, raising more than £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
On June 23, Redditch Golf Club opened up the greens for the very first Abbey & Lyndon Charity Golf Day which saw 80 golfers take part in raising money for charity.
The shotgun start event was a great success with a charity auction and a raffle held on the day to raise even more funds, with luxury prizes donated from local businesses including YESSS Electrical who were the main sponsors for the event.
Including money from the auction and donations from local companies and golfers, a total of £3042 was raised towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sarah Diston, Regional Fundraising Manager for Macmillan, said: “On behalf of everyone at Macmillan, I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for supporting the recent Abbey & Lyndon Golf Day, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
“Thanks to your support, Abbey & Lyndon raised a staggering amount of money. This is fantastic and it really couldn’t have happened without you.”
It is hoped that the golfing event will be held biannually, raising much needed money for good causes on a regular basis.
