A REDDITCH GP surgery is set to receive government funding to expand clinical capacity, expected to deliver around 30 additional appointments each day.
The funding, part of £102million boost to upgrade more than 1,000 practices nationally, aims to also create additional clinical space at the Elgar House Surgery on Church Road.
During a visit, Redditch MP Chris Bloore heard first-hand about the positive difference this investment would make for patients.
However, the practice also raised concerns over delays caused by their landlord, who has yet to approve the necessary building changes to expand capacity.
Mr Bloore pledged to work with all parties to help remove these blockers and ensure improvements could be delivered without unnecessary hold-ups.
Another long-standing concern raised during the meeting was the lack of parking at the site, an issue which continues to create daily difficulties for both staff and patients accessing care.
Mr Bloore has committed to exploring options to address this issue and improve the experience for everyone visiting the surgery.
“It was fantastic to spend time with the dedicated team at Elgar House Surgery and hear about their plans to boost capacity and help more patients get the care they need, when they need it,” he said.
“However, it’s clear there are some avoidable obstacles – like the landlord delays – which are holding up much-needed improvements.
“I’ll be doing everything I can to get this moving so local families feel the benefit as soon as possible.”
