Redditch History Society latest talk on art house

REDDITCH History Society will continue its 2023 programme of illustrated talks with its forthcoming meeting on Monday, May 15, focusing on Winterbourne House and Garden.

The speaker will be Henrietta Lockhart, the Curator of Museum Collections at Winterbourne House and Garden, which is owned by the University of Birmingham and is situated on the campus.

Winterbourne is a fine crts and crafts house with a rich and diverse history which will be the subject of the illustrated talk.

The Redditch History Society meets at the Oasis Christian Centre, 4 Plymouth Road at 2pm, usually on the second Monday of the month.

Non-members are very welcome to attend and the entrance fee is currently £3, refundable against the membership fee if joining at the meeting.

The society, now thriving again, will be moving back into the large room at the Oasis Centre for the rest of the season.

A spokesperson for the group said: “We are the only history society in the area which meets in the daytime, and our success means we are always looking for help.

“If any of our members – or visitors – feel they would like to contribute towards the running of the society in any capacity, including refreshments, please volunteer at this meeting.”
