Redditch homes plan could change

A POSSIBLE change to its plan by David Wilson Homes could be ‘a game changer’ for Wirehill residents.

Locals are campaigning against a change in traffic priority caused by a proposed 131 home development at the end of Nine Days Lane on land behind the Alexandra Hospital.

Because there are three office blocks included in the plan, priority will be lost by residents descending Nine Days Lane from Wirehill, a road which can become treacherous in winter.

However after meeting County Councillor Marcus Hart, who has responsibility for transport in Worcestershire, and Redditch MP Karen Lumley, Bob Price is hopeful things will change, particularly as Mrs Lumley is due to meet the project director today, Friday.

The hope is that the developer could drop the plans for the offices and put in additional houses instead, in which case priority would revert back to the Wirehill residents.

“It’s something we discussed and would be a game changer if it went ahead,” said Bob Price, chairman of the Wirehill residents association.

A spokesperson from David Wilson Homes Mercia said: “We are in discussions with locally elected representatives of Redditch, and hope to work with them closely to the benefit of all parties, as we endeavour to bring quality new homes to the area.”
