THE Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch has partnered with Marathon Kids UK as its charity partnership of the year.
Marathon Kids UK is a national children’s charity that is dedicated to inspiring the next generation to become more physically active and prioritise both their physical and mental health.
The charity’s aim is to encourage children to get the 30 minutes of recommended daily physical activity through running practice, with the goal of improving each child’s well-being and encouraging a life-long healthy habit.
Ken Williams, general manager at Kingfisher Shopping Centre said: “Being able to support charities that aim to encourage a happier, healthier next generation is crucial to supporting the youth in our community.
“The goal of our partnership with Marathon Kids UK in Redditch is to raise awareness within a family setting of the importance of looking after your physical health, and how this subsequently positively impacts your mental health.”
Jason Furness, community ambassador of Marathon Kids UK in Redditch, added: “The partnership with Kingfisher is a huge help for allowing us to reach even more children within the Redditch community, and continues to help us encourage children and families to get involved in running practice.
“Our programme is completely free and open to children of all ages and abilities.”
The Marathon Kids UK in Redditch programme takes place every Saturday at 9.30am and involves warm-up games, relay races, and a 20-minute endurance run.
The event is free for all families and takes place The Abbey Stadium.
