A REDDITCH knife crime activist been shortlisted for a West Mercia Police Quality Policing Award in the category Community Thank you.
Pete Martin from Redditch Self Defence has been campaigning in the community, educating youngsters of the dangers surrounding knife crime for 10 years.
He also campaigned alongside the anti-violence bee in Redditch and Bromsgrove, and spent two days talking to people in the borough about the impact of knife crime.
He said: “The visit of the bee enabled us to start discussions with people about this delicate subject and talk about anti violence projects.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 27th January at West Midlands Safari Park.
Pete added: “We have had a fantastic year smashing our targets for 2022 we aimed to speak to 5,000 young people in the local area and have spoken to 6000 we have also provided over 150 free classes to the community including activities in schools.
“The recognition from the West Mercia Police is a fantastic honour especially as we work with the local Officers so closely.”
