REDDITCH knife crime activist Pete Martin from Redditch Self Defence has been named Community Hero of the Year at the Redditch BID Business Awards
Pete was recognised for his outstanding 10 years fighting knife crime and violence.
The awards were held on Sunday, October 233 at the Palace Theatre at a star-studded black tie event.
The award was presented by the Mayor of Redditch Councillor Ann Isherwood at the close of the evening.
Pete gave a speech thanking the local community and stated knife crime is a problem in society that can only be addressed by the community working together.
He added: “Knife crime is rising post pandemic and is still an issue needs driving down.
“However figures are still below pre-pandemic levels and Redditch is now regarded as the safest large town in Worcestershire, something we should all be very proud of.”
