THERE was hot work in the kitchen over the festive season as members of Redditch Labour Party got cooking for their seventh annual Christmas Eve hot meal delivery service.
This year they dished up around 170 hot meals after taking over the kitchen at At Andrews Church in Church Hill with more than 20 volunteers rolling up their sleeves to help.
“People were very generous donating ingredients and baking cakes so we could add a cake for dessert to the hot meal,” said Councillor Bill Hartnett.
“I would also like to thank all who helped and contributed, in particular Coun Joe Baker whose original idea this was, everyone enjoyed the day, spreading the true spirit of Christmas to local residents.”
Coun Baker added: “This year saw us increase our amount 50 per cent to up to 170 meals. It is always important to think of others at this time and I’m pleased to be part of this wonderful group.
“Our thanks to Batchley Fish Bar, staff at Omega Therapies and Nash Business Systems and staff at St Andrew’s Church Church Hill for their support.”
