Redditch Labour Party hold Christmas Eve meal for struggling people

Redditch Editorial 20th Dec, 2023   0

PEOPLE or families struggling this Christmas can get a hot Christmas Eve meal event being put on by Redditch Labour Party and volunteers.

Joe Baker, leader of Redditch Labour Party, set up the annual event over ten years ago and each year it has become busier and busier.

He said: “I have already been getting dozens of requests from the public asking for a meal as they are either struggling financially or are just not coping with things at this time.

“I know loneliness at Christmas can affect many people especially during this worrying time and it is hoped a knock on the door by one of our many volunteers with a meal will help to make the difference.”

He added the growth in need this year was epitomised by a call from the council’s own homeless officer asking for more information on how to obtain meals.

Coun Baker added: “So if you or you know of someone who needs a meal this Christmas Eve, please call the Redditch Labour Party.”

The event will be held at the St Andrews Church, Church Hill, from 12.30pm until 1.30pm, or meals can be delivered to those who need them.
