REDDITCH-based Lexon UK is helping to boost local community charities after setting aside £50,000 for good causes.

The firm, which has pharmacies across the Midlands, decided earlier this year to make the sum available for charities its staff and local communities care about.

Recipients already include Redditch Nightstop and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute.

The latest donation of the Oxsleasow Road business is is £2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities at Birmingham Childrens Hospital.

This is an independent nonprofit organisation whose stated mission is to create, find, and support programmes that directly improve the health and well-being of children.

Ronald McDonald House came to the attention of Lexon thanks to intervention of staff member Sharon Garrod.

Sharon, who has worked for Lexon for 20 years, applied for a donation for the charity after a family member benefited by staying at the house a few years ago.

On hearing this Lexon’s directors made the bumper donation which will fund a room for a year.
